Two Cool Dudes

This picture is updated. I know it is hard to tell from the picture but I embossed the Brocade Blue Piece, the giant snowflake and the tag with Iridescent Ice.

I am working on a 6x6 calendar swap. My month is January. I had a hard time deciding what layout and stamp sets to use. I sketched one last night and got up this morning to try it. I wanted to sue the Sizzix to cut the snowflake out of chipboard then wanted to use the white craft pad and Iridescent Ice but the chipboard does not work with the sizzlets dies. The the original sketch didn't fit right so had to change it up. This is what I came up with. I like the way it finally came together. I can't wait to see what the rest of the calendar will look like.

Stamps: Two Cool Dudes, Holiday Blitz
Ink: Night of Navy, Craft White
Paper: Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and Whisper White
Accessories Brocade Blue 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Sizzix Snowflake Set # 2, Linen Thread, Scallop Edge Punch, Tag Punches

Crab and Company

So when I was first looking at some different birthday cards to make I wanted to use some different sets and decided one should be crab and company. I have had this set for quite some time now and never mounted it. I originally cased a card and then started duplicating it this weekend. I wanted to change it up some - where it was all current merchandise. I thought timing was perfect as we now have the scallop square punch. Well it turns out I did not have any current polka dots available and the small square punch did not layer right on the card. So I changd it to the cirle and circle scallop punch.

I really did not like the scallop circle ont his card. It really seemed out of place and the card was just not flowing the way that I would have liked. So Stacy helped me brainstorm through some other options to make this card work. We changed the background to Ballet Blue and had the crab holding the sign Snappy Birthday. Also to avoid so much cutting for the class we stamped the characters on vellum and colored them. The crab was stamped on Whisper White and his eyes have crystal effects on them to make them pop out. So this is now the 5th birthday card.

Stamps: Crab and Company and Sanded

Ink: Stazon Black, Chocolate Chip, Ballet Blue, Real Red, Vellum

Paper: Ballet Blue, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, Whisper White

Accessories: Dimensionals, Water Color Crayons, Blender Pens, Medium and Large Oval Punches

Pun Fun Birthday

This is the 4th card that we will be making in the Birthday Card Class. I cased this from Laurie. I changed it to the current DSP Junior Varsity and then matching paper, used a birthday stamp and omitted the brads. Megan made this card at convention where she made some mock brads - out of paper and crystal effects. So that is how I made the circles above the birthday greeting. Next time I would either move the saying down a little or up and put the dots below it.

Stamps: Pun Fun, On Your Birthday

Ink: Stazon Black
Paper: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Whisper White, Junior Varsity DSP

Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Crystal Effects, 1/4" Punch, Dimensionals, Water Color Crayons, Dazzling Diamonds

Crazy For Cupcakes #2

This is the second birthday card that I completed on this trip. I cased this from mariemc but wanted to have it all Stampin Up so I used the Scallop #2 and colluzzle. The cupcakes were colored with the blendor pen and ink pads. I also wanted to have the frosting look fluffy with pink streak through it. So I tried to mix white craft refill and pink pirouette but it was not swirling like I wanted. So in the end I ended up sprinking Dazzling Diamonds over the frosting and I really like the way it turned out.

Stamps: Crazy For Cupcakes, On Your Birthday
Ink: Stazon Black
Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Bella Rose DSP and Baja Breeze DSP
Accessories: Baja Breeze Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds

Party Hearty

This is one of the cards that will be made on the Monthly Card Night. Sorry about the lighting - hotel lighting... Okay so got to Stacy's house and used her Daylight to retake my pictures. What a difference good lighting makes. I decided to leave both pictures up here to see the lighting contrast. Maybe I shouldn't take pictures from the hotel rooms anymore :)
When planning the birthday card class I wanted to have a couple cards that could be used for any gender. I saw this card by Wendy Janson and really loved the colors together plus not really frilly so you could give it to a man.
The corners are paper pierced but I fogot my mat pack so they are not even on each corner. But that is waht makes it unique - right. I found that my mouse pad makes a great paper piercing mat while on the road :) I would also like a larger circle to mount the Celebrate You on. The next coluzzle line made it too big, so needing something inbetween. But I really like the way it came together.
Stamps: Party Hearty, On Your Birthday
Ink: Basic Gray
Paper: Ridinghood Red, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Prestwick DSP
Accessories: Red Brads, Silver Cord, Coluzzle, Dimensionals, 1 3/4" Punch, 1" Punch, 3/4" Punch
